What Our Crew Would Do- Jessica F

Hello Crafters,
I have a little bit of the old "Valentine's Craft Spirit" this not so cheerful time of year. It's super easy and you can make it for not very much. I'm calling it my Berry Heart Box Sign.

I've made a new Valentine's decoration using:
-12"x12" box sign from The Wood Connection for $6.95
-Black, White and Light Ivory paint $1.29 each at The Wood Connection
-Masking tape
-Foam brushes
-Wood Glue
-Two sprigs of Glitter Berries (Large and Small) from most major craft stores
-Martha Stewart stencils from The Wood Connection for $14.95
I started by measuring 1.5" inch lines and putting masking tape in the right place and I painted every other stripe white. Once dry, I placed my Martha Stewart stencils in place and reinforced the stencil with masking tape. I sponge brushed Light Ivory paint over the stencil to create the pattern. Once dry, I masked the box sign again to paint the opposite stripe black.
While the paint dried, I started cutting my berries in half using one of my mom's nice steak knives (hopefully the knives are okay- sorry Mom). This was easy as the inside of these berries is styrofoam.

I used three sizes of berries. I placed my large and medium berry halves in "every-other" order and glued each of them on with wood glue. After I had glued each berry half down, I placed two dictionaries on them for weight until the glue dried. Next, I placed smaller berries inside the large berry heart with space in between them. Last step was gluing the small berries and putting the dictionaries on top while the glue set.

This was the easiest project I've done. It took maybe an hour and a half total (minus the breaks while things dried). Thanks for reading! Happy Valentine's Day!
