What Our Crew Would Do- Danielle

Hey everyone! Danielle from the Murray store here, reporting from my college apartment in Idaho. Unfortunately, my apartment is kind of undecorated and a little bit boring, but the other day, I came up with an idea for an elephant banner to make my apartment cuter. Also, elephants are supposed to be good luck, so hopefully this banner helps me out…

What you’ll need:
Kid Co. Elephants (I used one large size and two small)
Wood Glue
Foam Brushes
Paint (I used Tahiti Blue, Empire Gold, and Leaf Green)
Scrapbook Paper to match your paint
Bakers Twine (I used around 2 yards to tie the little guys together)
Eye hooks (I used 6 of them, and they’re only $0.20 at Wood Connection)
Sandpaper
Here’s what you’ll do:
First off, trace your elephants onto the paper of your choice.
Cut out the paper.
Paint the elephants and their ears.
Once the paint is dry, use the white wood glue to glue the paper onto the wood. Drizzle some glue directly onto the wood, and then use a foam brush to spread it out so that there’s a smooth even coat of glue. Stick the paper onto the glue and place something heavy over it for 20 minutes while it dries. (Would it be possible to link to the craft tips part of the site right here?)

After the glue has dried, sand the extra edges of the paper down so that the paper fits exactly with the wood and dry brush the edges of the paper with the same paint color that the wood is painted. (Would it be possible to link to the craft tips part of the site right here?)

After you’ve painted, papered, and distressed all of the pieces, you’ll want to glue the pieces together (for this project I glued the elephant’s ears onto the bodies). To do this, you’ll use the same wood glue that you glued the paper on with. Pour a little bit of glue onto the back of the wood and smooth it out with a sponge brush before gluing it onto the wood.
Once the glue is dry, you’ll need to screw the eye hooks into the wood. To do this, I first gently hammered the hooks into the wood before twisting them in.

To finish up, thread the Baker’s Twine through the eye hooks and add some ribbon as an embellishment.

Voila! This decoration could be done with any of our Kid Co shapes and would be cute in any home, apartment, or bedroom. Thanks for reading!
