Hey bloggers! It's Paige from the AF store again. You may remember my previous Birthday Board post. Today I want to show this amazing and simple project I just completed that I am so in love with!
Here are the supplies that you will need:
5 - 1x4x24 boards that we sell for $2.00 each
6 yards of twine in your desired color
6 yards of twine in your desired color
2 yards ribbon
2 packets of brackets from Lowes
2 pack of nails (I used ones with large heads) from Lowes
2 pack of nails (I used ones with large heads) from Lowes
Paper and letters to trace
1 can Minwacx Provential Stain (also available at The Wood Connection)
1 foam brush
Paper towels
Hammer
I started by staining my boards. This step is very easy. Just wipe on the stain with the foam brush and then wipe off with a paper towel. Stain takes a full 24 hours to dry so be patient.
I then traced the letters I wanted to use on regular printer paper. I cut them out and had my template.
My next step was to attach all the boards together. The brackets I used were from Lowes and they included the screws. Our pine wood is easy enough to use that I did not even need to pre-drill holes.
I now just needed to lay out my templates and start hammering away. I used a little bit of tape to secure the letters where I wanted them while I hammered. It really doesnt matter how many nails you use. You just want to make sure they are evenly spaced. After all of my nails were in I simply pulled up the templates and voila!
Ok so here is the last and easiest step. Simply wrap your ribbon around your nails. I tied a knot around the first nail and just continued to wrap, weaving in and around the different nails. When I got to the last nail I simply tied another knot. I wrapped 4 times around the I and the U. You can do it as many times as you think looks good.
For the heart I folded my ribbon in half and once I found the center I held that at the top center of the heart and weaved down one side and tied a knot when I got to the bottom. I did the same thing on the next side and tied a bow on the bottom. I just trimmed up the ends and I was done!
Too many cute things!! I want to make them all!
