Pink Polka Dot Creations Guest Post

Hi, all you Wood Connection readers, I am Rita from Pink Polka Dot Creations. I love the Wood Connection and all of the fun, fun projects that they have and today I am excited to share a tutorial of a project that I did. After you look at this fun project, come on over to my blog at Pink Polka Dot Creations and see some of the other projects that I have done using supplies from the Wood Connection and enter to win a $25 gift certificate from the Wood Connection!
I was lucky enough to find an old window frame at an antique place a couple of weeks ago and I already had an idea in mind of what I wanted to do with it! Since Monograms are such the rage right now, I decided that was what I would put on my window frame! I am pretty excited about how it turned out...what do you think? This is what my frame looked like when I got it home and power washed it! There was hardly any paint on it to begin with and so I knew that I would need to add a little bit of color to it, but not a lot!
To antique it, I spray painted it antique white, then I sanded the heck out of it and I still was not happy with it, so I stained it just enough to bring out the wood color! I love how it looks now. Don't you love the latch on the bottom!
Next, I bought a wooden letter "Y" at my favorite local place, "The Wood Connection". I painted it black with the technique I showed here. Then I mod podged the chevron paper to the front of the letter. I tied a ribbon and some tulle to cutesie it up a bit. I actually had more ribbons on it and took them off because I liked the simplicity of it with just one ribbon and the tulle.
Then I simply wired the "Y" to my wreath. So easy. This would be a cute wreath in and of itself, if you want to make a simpler version of mine.
I then wired the wreath to my window frame and Ta Dah! It is done.
I love the look of it out in my yard, but that is not a very feasible place for it, so I hung it on the wall right outside my front door so that it welcomes all who come to visit!
If you do not have an antique window frame, you could still do this with an old picture frame or one of the many cute frames at the Wood Connection and it would also be adorable!
This would also be really easy to swap out the monogram for different seasonal decorations, and have a whole new look for every holiday!
Thanks for stopping by today and joining me, remember to drop by Pink Polka Dot Creations and enter to win a $25 gift certificate to our very favorite place!
