Hi, I’m Brandy J. from Just Our Style and I’m thrilled to be guest blogging for you today. I had the chance to play with the fabulous photo blocks and finials from the Wood Connection and I am.in.love.
I took an 8x10 photo block ($4.10) and an oversized finial ($0.75), painted them gray, and distressed the edges.
Since I knew I’d be covering most of the front with paper, I only painted the back and sides to save time and money.
Next, I created a subway-style panel using Word. We’re redecorating my son’s bedroom with a travel/adventure theme and I wanted something to display all the states he’s visited to-date. I printed my design on photo paper and adhered it to my painted panel. Then I covered the front with texture cream ($8.95).
The texture cream is awesome because it transforms your surface into a faux canvas with just a few rolls of a sponge. One container will last a long, long time.
There you have it! As you can see, these blocks can be very versatile AND inexpensive. To see more projects with these photo blocks please visit my blog.
The Wood Connection was kind enough to give me a $25 gift certificate (image how many cool things you could make with that chunk of change). To enter to win the gift certificate, check our my blog (I have lots of ways to enter)!
Thanks for stopping by and happy Monday!
Great project, Brandy. Ros

ReplyDeleteIm a little new at this craft stuff...how did you do the letters again without using vinyl?! You printed them out on photo paper?
ReplyDeleteLove the subway art of the states your son has visited. I have done a temple one and love them too.
ReplyDeleteThe temple phot block is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOur Country Family, I designed the subway art using Microsoft Word (I have more details of how to do this on my blog www.brandyanddave.blogspot.com). Then I printed it on photo paper and made sure my paint matched the panel I printed. I adhered it to the front of my block and added the texture cream. I hope this helps!
